June 17th 2010
The good people at JISC have decided to provide some extra funds for benefits realization to extend the user base of Clipper and to allow us to make some improvements. End user testing is currently underway at both Stirling University and Carnegie College. This user centred design approach is delivering valuable feedback to instigate and inform improvements to the Clipper application. More information soon - and keep an eye on our Blog and Google repository for the latest prototypes, and training materials.

Hello and welcome to the Clipper Project Website, a collaborative software application development project between Carnegie College and Digitalinsite, supported by JISC.
Clipper aims to fill a gap in the toolset of those who use online audio-visual media for education and research. Clipper will allow users to identify, create, tag, mix, and manage clips from within online audio-visual resources as well as the ability to add their own textual notes.
Current video web services make users dependant on the service providers to access and manage their chosen resources as well as their own user-generated content.

|
Clipper aims to redress this situation by providing the option to manage and manipulate online audio-visual content both locally on the users desktop as well as on the web.
The project outputs will be made openly available for reuse and further development by the community under an OSI approved licence. The outcomes of the project will benefit the community as a whole in understanding how to use these kinds of tools in new and innovative ways in education and research.
Project funding was provided by JISC under the terms of JISC Grant Funding 03/09.
The Clipper Editor and Player are made freely available under the terms of GNU GPL2 licence.
